Forgot to mention but would love for the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro to be reviewed, and be given a sound quality number. Thank you!

Hi, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are coming up (I think thr white ones are coming out on July 24th) and they now have Samsung Seamless Codec Ultra High Quality (or something similar to that name), where the max bitrate goes to 2500ish kbps and 250ish kbps, and now with their is the utility to play 24 bit 48khz lossless audio (i know I know still not 96 or 192khz though) via wireless. It also has two dynamic drivers and 2 amps, one for each driver.

I want to connect my A&K SR25 to the dual XLR balanced input on my Edifier S300Pro speakers. The SR25 manual shows that the 2.5mm connection is used for signal, and the ground is provided from the 3.5mm output.
I cannot find this cable anywhere for sale. Does anyone know where I can buy this ?
I called my A&K dealer in the USA and they were unable to help.
Thanks in anticipation,
John.

They used to offer players form $50.00 and up. They had some really decent DAPs for $100.00 to $150.00. Their current players now start at $499.00 and go up (substantially) from there. Please tell me thay haven’y abandoned the affordable DAP market.

Go for Beyer, not the Amiron unless you want warmth, smoothness and a slower pace (but fun!)

I don’t want to spend any more than £600.

I listen mainly to Rock, and 80’s pop but have a fairly wide ranging and eclectic taste. For example Pink Floyd, Nightwish, Rammstein, Depeche Mode, Floor Jansen, Delinquent Habits e.t.c.

Can anybody recommend some headphones to look at?

From listening to a few reviews I have been thinking about DT1990, DT1770 and Amiron Home.

I want upgrade to sennheiser hd 800 s + topping a90 + d90se. Using mostly for tidal, youtube and gaming. So i have a couple of questions:

1. Do I need topping d90se dac for topping a90 amp or topping a90 amp is good enough for ifi neo using as a dac?

2. Is Ifi Neo good enough as dac / amp combo for hd 800 s to use this cans to full potential and save some money?

3. If I buy topping stack do I have some benefits of using XLR balanced vs rca’s cables (input and output cables) in terms of sound quality differences ?

I broke the hair-like wire in the Sennheiser HD 580 driver.
Is there a way to repair that?

I’m glad I did, it’s still my favorite IEM. Do you have any plans to listen to the Tape Pro?

I am a professional drummer, and this would be used exclusively for live music performance monitoring as a replacement for a stage wedge monitor. As such, it’s vitally important that the IEMs have a really good seal and stays put even with a lot of movement (cord over ear). I need good sound isolation, and a clear balanced sound. Finally, durable and comfortable for hours on stage. BUT I’m on a tight budget. I know the Shure SE215s are the default “budget IEM,” but it’s only one driver, and I’ve been drawing heavily from the Crinacle ranking list (https://crinacle.com/rankings/iems) and the Antdroid ranking list (https://www.audiodiscourse.com/p/antdroid-iem-ranking-list.html) as I do my research , and they both sites rank the SE215 quite low.

Here are the three models I’m considering:
THEIAUDIO Legacy 3
Shozy Form 1.1
Tin HiFi T3

The Legacy 3 looks like it might have the best isolation, but it’s disappointing that it only comes with one type of tip and I worry about getting a good fit. The Form 1.1 is a similar build and had a whole slew of tip options. At first glance, I wouldn’t expect the T3 to isolate very well, but rtings.com says it does, though I’ve also found some reviews saying it doesn’t. (unfortunately rtings doesn’t have a review of the Legacy 3 or Form 1.1). I also have concerns with the T3 staying in place.

I have been trying to research but it’s very hard to tell which are “In-Ear Monitors” just for personal listening, and which work for musicians to use on stage. (I feel like we really need separate names for the two categories).
Can you help guide me here? Of those three, which would you recommend and why? Or what other models might you recommend? I would at least consider something up to $200 if it checks all the boxes, but am really looking for around $100 price.

Thank you!
Steve

I just recently owned, Lypertek TEVI, Shozy Form 1.1 and FiiO BTR5. And wondering if one of the DAP above will upgrade my sound quality since all I’ve been streaming from spotify from my phone.

Could anyone help to compare their sound signature and quality? Since R3 pro saber hasn’t been review in here and I read many good review from it

Apologies but I have to add a question to my previous post:

5. Should I consider IEM’s or are they not as good as Headphones?

I generally play Pop, Rock, Country, Reggae and a little Jazz but hardly any Classical pieces.
My current cans are a set of Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro’s which are connected to the Headphone output of my Mackie 1202 VLZ4 mixer which in turn is connected to A Digital Stage Piano, Synth, Sound module and Laptop with various (Hundreds) of Virtual Instruments. I record into Cubase and Ableton occaisionally but mostly play live to either pre-recorded tracks or my own produced tracks. I find the Beyers sound reasonable but not exciting, very comfortable at first but my ears start burning after about an hour and I feel they may be a little heavy. I don’t think I am getting the full sound experience from my instruments so would appreciate some advice. I am not listening to pre-recorded music via Hi-Fi system for long periods although if my phones covered this too that would be a bonus.
I have done some research which has left me no closer than a choice from 3 different headsets and complicated by not being able to test them long enough before buying.
My shortlist includes:
Sennheiser HD600/HD650 (seems like the preference in the Pro Musicians arena are still the HD600)
Shure SRH1840 (a little expensive for me but what’s money for?)
These are within my limited budget.
I would greatly appreciate your answers or comments on my questions as follows:

1. Would I improve the sound of my existing cans by using a dedicated amp or even a Hi-fi amp? (I have a Cambridge Audio Azur 540R or an older Technics D Class amp that I could use if either were a step up from the mixer on it’s own).

2. Would a different set of phones from my list improve the sound and comfort to any extent.

3. If you think I would benefit from a new set of Headphones, would I benefit even more by using a dedicated amp as in 1 above?

4. If you feel I need a dedicated headphone amp, in either case, what would you recommend? (Please be gentle with me on price) I have no experience or knowledge of these devices.

If you got this far, thank you for your patience, I really would appreciate some advice.

I’ve been reading some of Matt’s reviews and think I have a handle on what are my 3-choices, but as this would be a new product for me, I’m looking for a little push or nudge in what would be the best direction…. from those who would know better than I.

Specifically I’m torn between the A&K SR25, the Cowon Plenue R2, and a latest generation iPod Touch, but with adding an Audioquest Dragonfly Red or Cobalt. My personal collection of music is ALAC on an iMac dedicated as a music server. I’m principally looking to bring music to work, but because of my work I should be able to enjoy the higher fidelity offered by these set-ups.

Clearly the iPod Touch would keep me in my preferred ecosystem, but moving to a different brand for DAP isn’t an issue.

I would principally be listening with Beyerdynamic T51 cans.

As all of these options are fairly close in price-point, that’s not a concern.

Any opinion is welcome, or direction to some resource beyond Headfonia.

Thank you.

Hoi Martijn

it depends what your setup plans are. If you just want to do one purchase, it’s best to look at a DAC/AMP combo. If you want to invest more you can first look into a new amp and then a DAC. Check out our recommended buy lists: https://www.headfonia.com/best-gear/
