The reviewers top five from all disciplines. Just their opinion, but it is their opinion. Just state it for the reader !

Thanks Lieven.
I have already placed a bid for them on eBay. The problem is that with the shipping and customs duty, I’d still end up in the 350$ price range. I can’t do that now. So with the advancement in technology isn’t there something with a similar sound that can replace them for around 100$?

Lot’s of those on the 2nd hand market. I’d say to look there if you like them

I just broke my triple.fi 10 pro. I absolutely loved them. Found them perfect. Never raised a dB on eq on any freq on transperent sources (Kindle/Laptop/Computer with Pro SoundCard), so as you might imagine, I’m still in a state of shock and just a little short of crying. While the chances are that I might be able to repair the piece, do you have any recommendation for replacing the triple.fi with something under 100$ that is very close (SE215/R6/Momentum). Or would you recommend that I buy another pair of triple.fi if I’m not able to fix this one.

example: I have Shure SE535, if I throw a Baldur MKII on those IEM would it improve sound quality? Is it worth the $200? Or are there less expensive alternatives to cord quality?

The Mont Blanc is one of the more powerful portable amps, so you might have to get a desktop amp. One thing to think about when you compare power specs is how the amp will react to the speaker – impedance being just one factor of several.

This is to help cover the sound of loud tinnitus so I can sleep. The FiiO Mont Blanc portable amp is almost loud enough. How can I know if a different headphone amp will result in increased volume? Do you have any suggestions on a model? It could be portable or desktop if necessary to get higher volume. I’d rather have something under $500.00 if possible. Thanks very much.

The HD 598 have a large impedance spike up to 280 ohms at the 95 hz range; meaning that the bass is not well controlled (very flabby, bloated) when listening on a PC. There is too much power coming out of a PC soundcard. Even 10 ohms output impedance is too much for the HD 598. I could only comfortably listen to them at 12 to 14% volume level when testing on an Audioquest dragonfly.

If you know how to solder, you can make an L-Pad volume attenuator with resistors to decrease the volume and tighten up the bass and everything else. I now hear minor details that were hidden before because of the bloated bass. I made one and now listen at a 60-70% volume level.

An amp should have less that 2 ohms output impedance for these headphones because of that large impedance spike. Just do a google search about it and you can view the graph.

You can get many samples at Blue Coast and their sister sites. Bakoon the amp people have some free and cheap stuff (good stuff). AIX has some. Also look at Linn Records, and Soundkeeper (Barry Diament).

But google isn’t good for finding these. You need to scour the forums to find them.

If the headset has a standard 3.5 mm stereo plug, and the amp has a standard 2.5 mm stereo jack, then an adapter with 3.5 mm jack to 2.5 mm plug sounds like the fix.

This sucks !!! My headset has a 3.5 mm jack so from the connectors shipped with the amp it looks like amp supports a 2.5 mm jack. The question is would a 3.5 mm(female) to a 2.5 mm (male) remedy my problem ?

If a smaller on-ear is required, the Aedle VK-1, Beyer T51p, or ATH ESW9a might be worth a look.

I’m afraid they are as bad as you’ve read. However the Solo² seems to be good

I would recommend the Beyerdynamic DT770 or COP for better sound and less money

I just had a simple question and stumbled upon this web site to ask. I was only wondering if any model made by beats by dre are any good. I have come across many reviews of people saying they love them and many people saying they sound terrible.

I just got the Symphonized Wraith, a reissue (apparently) of the LSTN Troubador. The Troubador was $150 and the Wraith is $60 USD (MSRP). It’s very stylish, very comfortable, sounds good, 50 mm drivers – amazing deal for the money. The Soundmagic HP150 is good, $200 I think, sounds really good, but which is the better value – hard to say.
