I used to own the T51p. They were comfortable, easy to drive and they sounded great for an on ear headphone whether plugged directly into an iPad/iPhone or higher end source. I also had the stock cable fail and it had to be replaced. I ended up selling the T51p though as my reference IEM the Xelento Remote sounds better and is more portable. But I did like the T51p quite a bit.

you are very right about the PortaPro. I even own a couple 😀

I used to think just as you do until I recently purchased the Koss PortaPro (black & gold edition)

1. I never thought an on-ear earphone could sound as good as the PortaPro.

2. I never thought a 30 + years old driver could sound as good as the PortaPros’

3. I discovered a new mix of pleasure/sound quality and safety/awareness whilst walking on the street or riding my bike.

I had the T51p. The very thin cable failed, even though I was very careful with it. They did good on the repair, and quickly. The treble is peaky, especially around 5 khz, which is nearly impossible to avoid with Tesla drivers in a tiny on-ear. The good news is the earpads are fantastic – so good and so comfortable that I bought 2 of the DT1350’s and replaced its awful (horrible) earpads with the T51p earpads.
